Problem
In manufacturing inspection, surface inspection of components is an increasingly important task, which today is almost exclusively performed by tedious and error-prone visual inspection. One unsolved challenge for surface inspection of defects, especially on free-form surfaces, is particulate contamination.
Solution
The aim of SysPOT is to develop an optical system for the inline measurement of particles and defects on surfaces as well as a controlled cleaning process. The overall solution to be developed consists of an optical sensor for the complete inspection of component surfaces for defects and particles directly after cleaning, cleaning equipment for the controlled and qualified cleaning of complex components, and a control logic that evaluates and adapts the cleaning and measuring system as autonomously as possible to the requirements of the components with the associated individual inspection requirements on an AI basis.
Outcomes
Automated, repeatable and cost-efficient detection of particulate contamination onsurfaces of workpieces to be inspected.
Self-controlling cleaning process for cleaning of particulate contamination.
